J M A R

ARTIST FEATURE #13

YOUNG STEPPER

WHAT MOTIVATES YOU TO MAKE MUSIC AND WHERE IS THE YOUNGER GENERATION HEADED IN REGARDS TO GENRE AND ARTIST STYLE?

I get inspiration from both main-stream artists and my peer artists who grew up with me in London. Seeing people I knew build their music; many of my friends got into music when UK/London rap wasn’t main-stream. Hearing their voices contributed to and set off my ideas of the sounds I want to create. For example- 5EB, Calisto, J RHYS, LZEE.

WHAT IS THE LONDON UNDERGROUND SCENE LIKE?

The London Underground scene, right now, is getting much more traction. There are a lot of opportunities right now.

HOW TO DO YOU PLAN TO DEVELOP YOURSELF AS AN ARTIST?

I plan to find my specific sound through consistently making more music (Practice comes before progress). I am going to branch out to as many social media platforms as possible, especially tik tok. I am doing more collaborations, reaching out to artists who are better known. I am gearing up to perform gigs as well. I am determined to meet my goals.

ANY COLLABS IN THE FUTURE? AND ANY FINAL THOUGHT FOR THE READERS?

Yes, I have collaborated with American Artists before as well as UK and Arabic. I am currently focused on making music with local artists who I grew up with in North London.
