ARTIST FEATURE #9
REAL AND GENUINE MEGA MODD
CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE AS A HIPHOP ARTIST?
Well I’m really more than just a hip hop artist & I think that’s what made my experience so fun & unique. I’m a vocalist first so I’ve brought a different type of vocal execution to rapping & hip hop in general that I don’t think I’ve seen many artist capture. Hip hop truly made me fall in love with lyricism & putting words together. I’ll never look at words the same & I’ll never flow the same after all these years of practicing the craft. Hip hop has taught me a lot.
WHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT LESSONS YOU HAVE LEARNED THROUGH OUT THE YEARS WHEN IS COMES TO BEING ARTIST?
Throughout the years I’ve learned that doing this is for just as much for the people as it is for yourself. I’ve learned that my music has helped a lot of my people through hard times & helped them understand themselves through their stories I tell. I’ve learned that true art can’t really be pre-meditated. You have to be in the moment & let it flow through you to uncover the deepest parts of yourself — and through that surrender you’ll learn a lot about yourself and the way your mind works. Art is important to everyone, from the artist themselves to the common man and no amount of A.I. can ever replace our outdo the organic quality that comes from surrendering to creativity.
WHAT INFLUENCES YOUR MUSIC?
Real life, spiritualism, fashion & evolution are some of the main things that inspire my music. I like to say that I make music for the hood, nerdy, spiritual individuals. That sounds weird to some but when you really dive into it & get to actually know people you realize these people ain’t hard to find if you know how to get that energy out of them. Always appreciative of the connections I’ve built & the hearts I’ve opened up through this journey.
ANY COLLABS IN THE FUTURE? AND ANY FINAL THOUGHT FOR THE READERS?
I’d love a collab with J Cole & Dreamville overall. It’s essentially one of the only labels I could see myself being a part of & the artists that are a part of it really resonate with me in a way that others generally don’t. Dreamville artists, in my opinion, are the definition of true, raw & authentic artistry and that’s always what I aim to capture through my work. I think anyone who decides to pursue anything in the realm of creativity should be okay with the idea of surrendering themselves to the process & being patient with themselves through the evolution they’re bound to experience if they truly put their heart into it. This is a journey, a marathon, a love story — fall in love with the process & you’re bound to see success in some part of your life whether that’s riches, health, spiritualism or all the above. Keep your head up.
